Yeltana Nursing Home provides residential accommodation for 58 residents and is situated on Newton Street, Whyalla.
Yeltana was the first residential facility to be built by the Whyalla Senior Citizens Welfare Association. Yeltana’s name originated from the regional aboriginal dialect, meaning ‘shady tree, somewhere to rest’.
Yeltana has varied accommodation, including shared rooms, single rooms and a dedicated Memory Support Unit. A number of rooms provide a generous view of the Spencer Gulf courtesy of the beautiful beachfront location. Various garden areas and courtyards allow for access to sit and enjoy the weather or entertain guests in pleasant and safe surroundings.
Fully accredited services are designed and provide for all aspects of our resident’s lives as required. Physical, social, emotional, financial and spiritual needs can be supported as directed by their individualised care plan. Nursing care is available 24 hours a day. Support services to our facility include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, speech pathology, podiatry and hairdressing services. Residents retain the services of the community general practitioner of their choice whilst residing in any Whyalla Aged Care facility.
Leisure and recreational activities are designed to provide optimal social and emotional wellbeing and provide options to participate in group activities or support individual interests. Family are very welcome to become an important part of the Yeltana community and involve themselves as much as they wish in the daily life of their family member.
A Memory Support Unit is available at the facility, providing a specialised environment for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or related disorders to be cared for in a caring, safe and secure environment.
